Marija Mijic

Marija Mijic, HR & Office Allrounder craftworks

Let’s start with how you landed at craftworks?

I worked for 4 and a half years at a risk management software company based in Vienna. First as a report/SQL developer and then as a project manager. I was looking for new challenges to develop myself and to get a new perspective. For me, it was important that there is a strong team spirit, interesting technologies and a focus on delivering high quality, within exciting projects, to customers.

What made you want to apply for your position at craftworks?

The highly motivated team and the agile working environment where you can participate in the organization's development.

What do you do at craftworks, and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?

At craftworks I am responsible for the smooth flow in projects focused on good internal and external communication with the project team and all stakeholders.

What about your work do you like the most?

I like to get in touch with many different people and that I have the opportunity to learn a lot about different technologies in different projects.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

I would say that I always try to be open and appreciative to all people, which comes in handy when working with people.

Could you tell us more about yourself? For example: what are your hobbies and where do you like to spend your time most?

I spend a lot of my free time outdoors while doing various sports like mountain biking, hiking, running, snowboarding or via ferratas and of course I like to travel. When I'm not doing sports, I used to be with the Scouts, where I work voluntarily as a youth leader for Rangers and Rovers .

What does your typical day at craftworks look like?

I usually arrive really early, around 7 at the office and I make myself a cup of earl grey tea. After that I go to my computer and start with reading my emails and preparing upcoming meetings.

Can you give any advice to students on how to combine studies and work?

I’m not sure if I'm the right one to ask this question - just kidding - I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that there needs to be steady progress in studies.

What led you to this career and did your expectations about craftworks come true?

I have always been very interested in technology and fascinated by it, but I quickly realized that I would not become a developer, but that there are other opportunities to gain a foothold in the IT industry. It is really great that I'm able to learn about new technologies and that I get an insight into everything because craftworks does some things differently than other companies and I really like the openness when it comes to new ideas.

What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important to you?

I'm learning to become productive in a new environment with lots of new technologies, new people and projects.

Only 3 short questions left:

Mac or PC? Mac.

What's your favorite meal? Probably Pizza.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be? To be able to beam myself from one place to another.
