Marija Mijic, HR & Office Allrounder craftworks

Let’s start with how you landed at craftworks?

When I moved to Vienna, I wanted to find a company that truly aligned with my values. I searched on LinkedIn and came across craftworks - its culture and vision immediately resonated with me, so the decision to join felt like the perfect fit.

What were you doing before craftworks?

Before moving to Vienna, I was living and working in Graz. I studied International Management and Innovation Management and built my career primarily in start-ups and scale-ups across different industries, mainly in the tech and health sectors. My roles were always centered around HR but also involved other key areas like finance, innovation, and process management. I’ve always enjoyed working at the intersection of people, strategy, and growth.

What do you do at craftworks, and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?

I’m the Head of People & Growth, which means I’m responsible for strategic people and leadership development as well as ensuring a great overall HR experience at craftworks. If it involves the employee lifecycle - from hiring and onboarding to leadership development and culture. Whether there are questions about career growth, team dynamics, or simply want to discuss ways to enhance our work environment, I’m happy to help!

How do you prefer to start your day?

With a hot shower, good music on the radio and of course, a strong coffee to kick things off.

What energizes you at work?

Definitely coffee, a good match of Tischkick, and engaging, dynamic meetings where ideas flow and things get done.

What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important to you?

I’m currently learning how to make Latte Art - I figure if I drink so much coffee, I might as well make it look good too!

Could you tell us more about yourself? For example: what are your hobbies and where do you like to spend your time most?

I love to do all kinds of sports, especially if it includes a racket like badminton, tennis, paddle or volleyball (yeah, no racket, I know). I also enjoy mountain biking and cycling whenever I get the chance. Beyond that, I love discovering great food, spending time with friends, and traveling as much as possible.

Which movie have you seen recently and would you recommend watching it?

The last movie I watched at the cinema was Gladiator 2. It didn’t quite live up to the first one, but I still had a good time, mostly because of the popcorn!

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Empathetic, witty and sporty.

If you were the only human left on Earth, what would you do?

I’d probably explore all the places that are usually off-limits to humans - because why not?

Only 3 short questions left:

Coffee or Tea? Coffee.

Tell me one place you always wanted to travel to?Japan.

What's your favourite meal? Food in general (Ok, Tantanmen Ramen).
